Sony PSP 2 Playstation Vita – Next Generation Portable Gaming Console

Sony PS Vita Overview

So it looks like Sony is getting ready to battle out its competition from 3DS and ipod touch probably which leads the race at present with portable gaming consoles. Looks like sony learned its lesson the hard way a year back with the release of PSP Go which had a whole new look to the PSP that did not seem to impress many and even had very little units selling out in the initial day. So the Japanese company has finally decided to retain the old and most successful look on the PSP with a lot of tweaks and improvements of course and calls this one the NGP or in other words PSP2. NGP will feature gorgeous looking OLED display with multi touch capability. The 5 inch Display screen will have an impressive 960 x 544 resolution, so you should not have any doubts about how better the games and videos will look on the device. It will also feature dual camera, one in the front and rear end of the device. On the inside this device will feature quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU and a quad-core Imagination Technologies PowerVR SGX543MP4+ GPU. There will also be dual analog sticks which will ensure greater game play experience. This device looks impressive from the connectivity side as well, it will support 3G, wifi and GPS. Looks like Sony is working on a new user interface on this device and instead of a UMD which was found in the previous generation PSPs, there will be new flash memory cards with games preloaded in to it.

  1. hii chakkravarthi… can i know the price of this device along with the launch date… and does it have bluetooth?

    • It was expected to be available by November this year, but with recent set backs in Japan with Tsunami and Earth quakes we might just notice a prolonged period of delay with its launch as Sony shut its main units in Japan.

  2. hey is this better than the 3ds…??? personally i dont think so ive never thought as the ds superior to psp,,,,so wats ur thought on that….???and the price …..can u estimate it….????oh yeah is there any info on the cameras….???like vga or how much mp…??

    • Its definitely better than 3DS but the problem is, it won’t be releasing anytime soon and with recent earth quakes in Japan we might just see this one releasing only in 2012 January or february. I am not sure how much this product will be appealing to people by that time considering the fact next generation tablets will make its debut around that time period at similar price point, there is no word about the camera on this device as of yet, we are sure that it has a camera capable of doing HD videos. My approximate cost estimation would be around Rs.22,000/- lets see.

      • obviously if its 22,000 rs no one will buy it coz its gonna cost approx 350$ (for d 3G model) in d U.S. i.e. 15,748 rs….so i guess in india it shud cost about 18,000 rs, not more dan dat…. And if does cost 19,000 or more … id rather buy a PS3…..

        • There is no official announcements of its price yet.. lets wait and see how its gonna turn out.. we are pretty excited about its launch, but we might just not see it releasing this year.

  3. is the number of slots same as fr the psp and ngp in case of umd’s or there is more space..\

  4. Rs.22000 is a bit too much i expect less than 20k say 18k

    • official price by sont is 300$ for 3gs version that is close to 14 000

      • Usually prices are more in India over US, lets wait till it comes out. I expect the price should be somewhere around 17k with all the heavy taxation in India for the consumer electronics in general.

  5. NGP is better than any other handheld upto now.it has both processing power tht can play ps3 qualty games and also good games library so its price might be nearly 250 to 350$ in usa and it will be in 2 models.one of the wifi and other with 3g so wifi model might be 50$ less than 3g so in india wifi model shud cost nearly 15k-16k and 3g shud be nearly 19-20 but i hope still the prices are down but seeing its specs it will cost more but we will see it more during the E-3 conference held in san franciso including price and launch games.

  6. Counter strike champ

    • PSP2 will not be released anytime soon, expected date of release in US is going to be jan or feb in 2012 and its launch in India would be delayed. So You have at least one year time till this is going to be launched here.

  7. I want to buy it, is it available in Dehradun

    • It’s not even launched in U.S.. It may be launched in U.S. during Jan or Feb of 2012. Wait for its U.S. release and then expect its release in India after 2-3 months.

  8. hey, im harsehaj and id like to know the release date of  ps vita in india ..  and also the indian price

  15. Aggarwalgaurav007

hey should i buy PSP 3004 or wait for PSP vita..??/

  16. Hey i want to buy ps vita…….

  17.   Oh thanks, i appriciate that!

  18. hey ma kid brotha is goin crazy 4 it….as it solves d prob of gaming device as well as cellfone……is it worth it….or shud a tab b betta seeing 2 price as well as features criteria??

    • Chakkravarthi Raghavan

Its a nice gaming device but definitely not something anyone would substitute for a mobile, it has 3G support does not mean you can use it as a mobile though. Tab can be a all purpose device and will cost a bit more than this one, but if portable gaming is the main priority then it should be worth going for.

  19. wow this website really helped me and got the price of PSP vita on other websites we hrdly get the prices
